Introducing Maruti Suzuki Jimny Thunder Edition:

Maruti Suzuki has quietly introduced a new special edition of the Jimny in the Indian market named the Thunder Edition. This variant, available in both Zeta and Alpha versions, not only offers cosmetic enhancements but also comes at a more affordable price point.

Cosmetic Upgrades and Accessories:

Priced between Rs. 10.74 lakh and Rs. 14.05 lakh (ex-showroom), the Thunder Edition boasts various standard accessories. These include a front skid plate, side door cladding, door visor, door sill guard, grip cover in rustic tan, floor mat, and exterior graphics. Additionally, garnishes can be found on the front bumper, ORVM, side fender, and hood.

Unchanged Performance:

Under the hood, the Jimny Thunder Edition retains the 1.5-liter, four-cylinder, K-series naturally aspirated petrol engine. Delivering 103 bhp and 134 Nm of torque, it offers a choice between a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The manual version boasts a claimed fuel economy of 16.94 kmpl, while the automatic version achieves 16.39 kmpl.

Safety Features:

Ensuring safety, the Jimny is equipped with a range of features, including 6 airbags, brake limited slip differential, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Program, Hill Hold Control, Hill Descent Control, Rear View Camera, Brake Assist Function, and Engine Immobilizer.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Thunder Edition Boosts Sales, Discounts Reduced in 2024

In December 2023, Maruti Suzuki introduced the Thunder Edition of its Jimny SUV to boost sales successfully. However, they adopted a limited-run approach for this new edition. In a recent chat with Shashank Shrivastava, Senior Executive Officer of Marketing and Sales at Maruti Suzuki, it was revealed that the discounts on the Jimny would be significantly reduced starting January 2024. Previously, the Suzuki Jimny had discounts of up to 1 lakh in the last months of 2023.

Interestingly, Maruti Suzuki has decided not to lower the prices of the SUV to drive sales. It’s worth noting that the company announced a price increase across its entire range last month, and this change is effective this month. The exact amount of the hike will be disclosed soon.
